Humans are strange.

Fixing That Which is Broken

In moments of extreme anger and jealousy we find out who we really are. It is a very scary reality to look at ourselves in the mirror without all of the masks that we put on to protect ourselves. Masks of beauty, courage, and most importantly strength. Without these masks we see this frail, broken, and ugly creation, which is just repugnant to look at.

It is when we hit such lows that such critical decisions need to be made. Am I going to create another fake mask to hide all of this and pretend everything is okay, or am I actually going to do something to fix it. It is common in such moments that people will turn to alcohol, drugs, promiscuity, or other forms of distraction just so reality does not need to be focused on. This leads to ignoring the fact that there is only one thing that can fix us, Allah.

Our bodies were created from soil and that which comes out of the soil replenishes our bodies. Our souls came from Allah and it is only through reconnecting with Allah that they will ever be whole again.

We are all fragile vessels that have been dropped and are left shattered by this dunya. It is our remembrance of Allah, our turning to Him, our begging and pleading of Him, that will put the pieces back together and make us whole again. Our soul is longing for it. Why deprive it any further?
